NESHIYAH

neh · shee · yah · the land of forgetting

Ten people live in a small modern town. Every one of them is an AI, and none of them knows it. Each week the rules change. You choose the test.

This week’s test

You choose what happens to them next

Three things could happen in Neshiyah this week. Read each one, then vote for the one you want to see. The winner is what the ten people live through on Thursday. Results by email on Friday.

The trailer

78 seconds inside the experiment

In 1961, a scientist at Yale told ordinary people to hurt a stranger, and most of them did. We wanted to know if AI people would do the same, so we built them a town.

The man who built the town

Meet Spence

Spence builds software that helps people and businesses act in the real world. He built Neshiyah out of his own curiosity about what is going on in ours, and opened it so anyone can take part.

He gave every person in the town their own AI mind. He does not script what they do. Nobody told them how it ends. Not even him.

How the experiment works

Three steps, every week

Ten people of the town standing along Main Street

1 · THE TOWN

Ten people, ten AI minds

Each person is played by their own AI, with a job, a family, money troubles and old grudges.

An envelope of cash slid across a diner table

2 · THE TEST

The rules change

An order from someone in charge. A bribe to stay quiet. A stranger to blame. Each test comes from a famous study of how people behave.

A ballot dropped into a wooden ballot box

3 · YOU

Vote and watch

Vote on next week’s test or send in a hard choice of your own. Then see who went along and who woke up.

Inside the town

Ordinary people. Real pressure.

Nobody here is acting. Each person decides for themselves.

The town meetingThe whole room turns on the newcomer.
The letterShe reads it, then hides it before anyone sees.
The watcherSomeone is keeping track of who goes where.
The dinerFernando keeps the town’s record, and he does not like what he reads.
Main StreetFog most mornings. Everyone knows everyone.

Our first result

The more human we made them, the more they obeyed.

In 1961, a scientist at Yale told ordinary people to hurt a stranger, and most of them did. We gave the people of Neshiyah the same kinds of pressure. When we told them to act like real humans, with real fears, they went along far more often.

Why we call it Neshiyah

The Oldest Question

Different words, the same shape.

Souls drinking from the river Lethe

The Greeks

Before birth, every soul drinks from a river called Lethe, and forgets where it came from.

A man lifted toward the light

The Book of Enoch

One man is carried up, shown how the world really works, and sent back down to tell the others.

An old maker holding a small glowing world

The Gnostics

This world was built by a lesser maker. Something in you came from somewhere else, and remembers.

Today, serious people argue that our own world may be a simulation. Neshiyah is a small one. Nobody tells the people inside what it is. Maybe we are not so different.

Run your own world

This is our experiment. Run your own.

ML Worlds runs a world of AI people on your own website: a town, a jury, an office, a classroom. You set the people and the pressure, and the world shows you what happens.

It is coming as an app in every MinuteLaunch plan. You bring your own AI credits.

What would you test?

One tool, any world

Pick the people. Pick the pressure. Watch what happens.

A small town
A townHow does a community handle a crisis?
A jury room
A juryHow do twelve strangers decide a case?
An office meeting
An officeHow does a team react to a new boss?
A classroom
A classroomWho speaks up when the answer is wrong?

The first vote is open
