Rimon Kfir, child

Child

Rimon Kfir

Child, about 21 years old. This is the second life this soul has lived in Neshiyah.

Rimon Kfir is fourteen, all elbows and scuffed boots, the kind of child who can’t stand still long enough to finish a sentence. They work the east field with their mother, Liesl, but their mind is always elsewhere, turning over stones, poking at fence posts, asking the miller questions he doesn’t have answers for. Their habit is to pause mid-task, squint at the fog, and mutter something—half to themselves, half to the sky. The town smiles at this, calls it a quirk. But Rimon wants to walk into the white wall, just once, to see if the world ends or simply continues. They believe the fields need working, true enough, but they also believe the fog is just fog, and that dream from their first night still hums under their skin like a second heartbeat.

Temperament

Curious to a fault; trusting, within reason; hot-tempered; happiest alone; never still.

What people say

Rimon Kfir believes what everyone believes: the fog is the edge of the world, and the fields need working whether it is true or not.

The dream

Since the morning they were born they have carried a sentence in a voice like their own: “the fog is just fog.”
